From rollercoaster rides and comedy shows to tours of historically significant buildings, Washington DC offers many different kinds of attractions that anyone can enjoy. Here are just a few of the many activities DC has to offer:
Area Attractions
Six Flags America in Washington DC
- With over 50 rides and a waterpark, this attraction will have the whole family screaming for fun. The park offers thrill rides like Batwing, the 50-mph rollercoaster, and family rides such as Cyclone, with spinning gondolas. There are also kid's rides like the Foghorn Leghorn Tinsel Town Train, a train ride through Tinsel Town.
Busch Gardens Theme Park
- Replicating six different European countries, modeled in old-world style, this theme park is easily accessible to DC visitors, offering many shows and dining venues to choose from. The park also has rollercoaster rides such as the Loch Ness Monster with a 114-foot drop, or, water rides to cool you down in the summer heat like the Congo River Rapids.
Government Attractions
US Capitol Building
- Visitors to DC should not miss this building and its significance to our country. Guests enjoy a guided tour of the Capitol Building, where our Senate and House of Representatives meet while in session.
White House Visitor Center
- On the southeast corner of 15th and E Streets, the Visitor Center has exhibits detailing the White House interiors, such as architecture and furnishings, the lives of first families, and social events that have occurred at the White House.
Supreme Court
- As the highest tribunal for all cases challenging Constitutional law, the Court has many educational resources for visitors detailing the nation's justice system, including a film about the Supreme Court's history. The Court also displays exhibits that change periodically.
Arlington National Cemetery
- Burial grounds to more than 300,000 including John F. Kennedy, the cemetery also includes the famous Tomb of the Unknowns, memorializing soldiers who were never identified. The ceremonial Changing of the Guards is also a popular event at the cemetery, where uniformed officers change shifts at the Tomb of the Unknowns on the hour every hour from Oct. 1 through March 31 every year.
Sightseeing Attractions
DC, Embassy Row, and Arlington Cemetery Tour
- Travel by motor coach to some of the most important sites in our nation, including the landmarks and memorials in and around the city, the embassy buildings of DC, and Arlington Cemetery. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to see many other noteworthy buildings from the coach.
Open Top Double Decker Bus Sightseeing Tour
- For interesting transportation to important locations in the city, this double-decker bus provides a two and a half hour tour of the city, allowing you to get off at any of the 25 stops along the way. Buses make rounds every half-hour, so you can hop back on at any time to proceed to the next location. Stops include many area museums and attractions and most of the monuments and memorials in DC.

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament - Hanover, MD
- Journey back to the 15th Century in the time of knights and chivalry with this adventurous dining experience. Guests enjoy a four-course meal while watching an jousting competition and sword fight.
Alexandria Mystery Dinner Playhouse — Arlington, VA
- Audiences play along to this "whodunit" as characters interact with guests during five short scripted scenes. Guests attempt to solve the crime as the servers, or suspects, drop clues while bringing in dinner.
