Are you looking for a great way to raise money for your nonprofit cause? The
Six Flags Amusement Park in Washington, DC has come up with a great idea. This year they hosted the Coasters for a Cause event, May 3-4, 2008. This unique way to raise money was very successful, benefiting both the park and the nonprofit organizations that participated.
Each organization that wanted to participate filled out an application to be selected to participate. Groups of 25 tickets were distributed to the nonprofit organizations at a cost of $12/ticket. These tickets are in turn sold to people for $22/ticket, netting a profit of $10 for the organization. In addition to being 50% off the regular gate price, each ticket purchaser received a "C'mon Back" ticket. With this ticket, they can revisit the park during their "Fright Fest" event in October for free. They were also given the opportunity to purchase a season pass for only $29.99.
