Every year on November 11, Mount Vernon celebrates Veterans Day at Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens in Mount Vernon, VA. Veterans Day is celebrated by inviting veterans and active duty military personnel to the estate and organizing special activities.
These activities include a Concert and Wreath laying in honor of Nation's veterans.
The ceremony starts with the patriotic community concert by the all-veteran barbershop chorus "The Heritage Harmony Singers" at 11 a.m. The all-veteran barbershop chorus, The Heritage Harmony Singers ideally represents all the branches of military. It is a great honor for the veterans who contributed in the building up of the nation. The concert is performed at Smith Auditorium. The admission to the concert is free of cost and is open to one and all.
The next ceremony occurs around 2 p.m. The Wreath laying, to honor the nation's veterans is performed by the Sons of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the American Revolution. The wreath laying is done at the tomb of the first Commander-in-Chief George Washington and is sponsored by the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution. This ceremony is also open to all visitors and veterans can participate in this ceremony by placing a red carnation inside the premises of the tomb of the Commander-in-Chief.
The Veterans Day is celebrated every year in November, but the program timing is subject to change. George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens was opened to public in 1858 and is owned and operated by Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. It represents leadership and integrity of the Nation. It is a place of interest and honour for everyone.
