Fort Dupont Park is considered an "all-season park" and with good reason. This beautiful park is open year round with many different activities. This 376 acre wooded park comprises probably the biggest parks in Washington. Inside this park, you'll find a Civil War earthwork fort, which is how it got its name. This particular fort is called the "Fort Circle Parks". It was also named for Samuel Francis du Pont, a rear admiral in the Civil War. Fort Dupont Park is located on 3985 Massachusetts Ave and is easy to locate, as most people know its location due to its popularity.
Some of the many activities you'll find here at Fort Dupont Park are programs on the Civil War, nature walks, gardening, picnics, environmental education, youth programs, skating, music, sport and more. This is the perfect spot for nature at its best as you can watch rabbits, squirrels and other wildlife among the maple, beech and oak trees. In addition to the many outdoor activities, visitors can enjoy the activity center and indoor ice rink. Tennis and basketball courts are also available for those looking for activity that is a little more physical and fun.
Fort Dupont Park is the site of many summer concert series. These bring in over 15,000 visitors.
