Harpers Ferry National Historic Park in Washington, DC
Harpers Ferry National Historic State Park near Washington DC, where visitors can take tours and see how this one place is home to so many historic events, like abolitionist John Brown's raid, and the largest surrender of Federal troops during the Civil War.
The State Park is located where the Potomac and Shenendoah rivers meet, and covers parts of West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland. Many guests enjoy nature by hiking, fishing, rafting, and bird watching as well as take in the historic information from the area.
During the summer guests can be taken on a guided tour of the park while a park ranger explains the historical significance of various sites around the park. Three tours are offered daily starting at noon, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. with a shuttle operating from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
