In fact, the grave of JFK is the site most visitors go to when they come to Arlington Cemetery. It is here, they find his grave as well as those of his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She came to rest here after her death from cancer in 1994. The graves of two infant Kennedys are also part of this family plot. An unnamed daughter and a premature infant son make this their final resting place. Their plaques state the final days as 1956 and 1963, respectively. JFK's brother, Robert Kennedy, also lies nearby. Arlington Cemetery is the final resting place of more than 225,000 military personnel, war veterans and their family. It is across the Potomac River. You can see the capitol city from its grounds. The cemetery has rows of graves amid oaks and dogwoods. The Kennedy Grave site is in front of the Custis-Lee Mansion. John F. Kennedy's grave has been moved once since he was first buried here on November 25, 1963. His body was reburied where it now lies on March 14, 1967. You can see the flat grave markers indicating the site. Nearby still burns the Eternal Flame, keeping vigil. If you come to honor his name, be sure to stop and read the epitaph. It is from his 1961 inaugural address and contains the famous words: "Ask not what your country can do for you/ ask what you can do for your country.
