Less than ten hours later, he died in the Petersen House.
Today the Petersen House is a restored boarding house with only a few of the original furnishings still there. The pillow and pillowcase are being restored and the bed is in Chicago. People still love the idea of being in this house imagining the events that took place prior to Lincoln's death. The restoration has the bedroom where he died looking like it did during that tragic time It's a particular place of interest and intrigue for those taking the tour of the Lincoln Museum and Ford's Theatre, as it's located between the two. Although these tours are self-guided, Petersen House has park rangers that will give informative talks every hour. Ford's Theatre is now being rejuvenated to a great theatre with quality productions like Lincoln so enjoyed.
